Kwento ni Mama Ludora

Before having children, Ludora was often called “kawayan” because she was so thin. Her first pregnancy didn’t change her body much, but after her second, the weight stayed. And sure enough, she was happy about it. Where others worried about bouncing back, Ludora embraced the fuller figure that finally felt right to her. Other first time mothers at her work became a source of comfort whenever they would share their experiences, fears, and small victories with each other, making the adjustment less isolating.

Her second pregnancy brought unexpected emotions. With a baby barely a year old, Ludora found herself crying more, overwhelmed by hormones and the looming reality of caring for two very young children. She leaned on her family, who temporarily looked after her eldest, and on the familiar rhythm of her preschool classroom, where the energy of young children and conversations with supportive colleagues helped her push through.

Ludora’s advice to new mothers is to be open with your partner, share what you’re feeling, and don’t be ashamed to ask for help. This story shows that recovery is easier when families talk openly, and that the right kind of support can turn insecurity into confidence.
