Why We Created Duyan

You want to support the mother you love. But sometimes,
it can be hard to know what she needs

After childbirth, a mother’s body changes in many ways. While these changes are a normal part of recovery, they can also affect how she sees herself. Through our research with Filipino mothers, we heard stories of insecurity, self-doubt, and the emotional weight that can quietly accompany postpartum recovery. Some shared that even well-intentioned comments about their appearance made them feel more alone, while others felt pressured to “bounce back” before they were ready.

These stories reminded us that healing doesn’t happen through medical care alone. It also happens at home, through the understanding, patience, and kindness of the people a mother leans on every day.

That’s why we created Duyan. Here, you’ll find research-based resources, real stories, and practical guidance designed to help you better understand what she’s going through and discover simple ways you can support her with confidence and compassion.

The People Behind Duyan

The team

We are Multimedia Arts students from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde who believe research can create meaningful change when it is shared with compassion.

DUYAN grew from our undergraduate research into a platform that helps families better understand postpartum body image and emotional recovery. By combining research with thoughtful design and storytelling, we hope to make these conversations more approachable and inspire homes where mothers are met with kindness, patience, and understanding.
